Flagship Case Study / Sobha Knowledge Hub

Built Sobha Constructions' Content Operations Function From Zero.

At Sobha Constructions in Dubai, Shahbaz Ali Shaikh established an internal media and knowledge-content capability that connected production planning, technical accuracy, creative direction, post-production, review, quality control, delivery and reusable asset governance.

Context

A Growing Need for Operational Content

Sobha Knowledge Hub supports the transfer of practical construction knowledge. Departments needed films for technical training, site processes, leadership communication, internal learning and organizational documentation. These requests crossed different subject-matter teams, production conditions and approval chains. The opportunity was to create a dependable internal capability that could translate specialist knowledge into clear, professional media.

The work sat inside an active construction environment. Every film had to respect real processes, access restrictions, safety requirements, brand standards and the limited time of operational stakeholders. Production therefore needed both creative judgment and disciplined coordination.

Challenge

Turn Fragmented Requests into One System

Content requirements arrived with different levels of detail, urgency and readiness. Technical teams understood their processes, while production needed a structured brief, visual sequence and review path. Without a shared operating model, work could lose time through unclear ownership, scattered feedback, changing versions and inconsistent asset storage.

The challenge was broader than filming and editing. It required a function that could clarify requests, plan safely, guide contributors, protect technical meaning, maintain creative quality and deliver files that people could find and reuse.

What I Built

An End-to-End Content Operations Function.

The system connected people, decisions and assets across the complete production lifecycle.

Intake and Briefing

Converted departmental requests into a clear purpose, audience, scope, subject-matter owner and approval path before production began.

Production Planning

Mapped locations, access, contributors, shot requirements, equipment, dependencies and delivery formats around active operational schedules.

Team Direction

Directed videographers and editors with a shared creative standard, clear ownership and practical feedback tied to the communication goal.

SLA Thinking

Set expectations around request readiness, review stages, stakeholder response and delivery priority so urgent work remained visible and manageable.

Review and QC

Checked structure, technical meaning, visual continuity, audio, graphics, captions, brand presentation and delivery specifications before release.

Asset Governance

Introduced clearer naming, version control, project organization and master-file handling to support future access and repurposing.

HSSE-Aligned Production

Planned technical filming around site controls and subject-matter guidance, keeping visual clarity connected to safe and accurate representation.

AI-Assisted Systems

Used human-led AI assistance for research, first-pass structure, scripting exploration, references and production planning while retaining human approval.

How I Ran It

Clear Ownership at Every Stage

Each assignment moved through a practical sequence: define the communication need, confirm the technical owner, build the production plan, capture the process, assemble the edit, collect consolidated feedback, complete quality control and release the approved assets. This made the status of work easier to understand and gave stakeholders a clear moment to make decisions.

I connected creative and operational conversations. With technical experts, I focused on accuracy, sequence and risk. With the production team, I translated that knowledge into shots, pacing, graphics and sound. With reviewers, I separated required corrections from preferences so the work could progress without losing its purpose.

AI presenters and AI-assisted production were evaluated where they could support repeatable learning or faster development. Their use remained governed by human judgment, approved information and appropriate review rather than being treated as an automatic publishing system.

Outcome

A Repeatable Internal Capability

The resulting function gave Sobha Constructions a more coherent way to develop technical, training, leadership and internal communication content. Requests could move through a defined lifecycle. Production quality had shared checkpoints. Approved assets had stronger structure for delivery and reuse.

The work also created a bridge between construction knowledge and media craft. Subject-matter experts did not need to become filmmakers, and filmmakers did not need to guess at technical meaning. The operating model connected both disciplines through planned collaboration.

This case demonstrates the value Shahbaz brings to a Creative Operations Manager role: building systems from ambiguity, directing multidisciplinary work, managing stakeholders, protecting standards and helping a media function serve the wider organization.
